One Nation Under a Grave
with Veronica Diesen, Feb 2020Premiere: Kode 2, Bergen, Norway
Revisiting Derek Jarman’s Blue (1991) in the context of Brexit, Tory victory and the last of the Labour party as anything other than pure trash.
One Nation Under A Grave explores the behavioural-scientific magick of 'Brexit' considered as a far-right coup. The film considers the referendum question ‘Leave or Remain?' as a device converting economic crisis and popular unrest into fascist opportunity, nudging us from class war toward race war. In the process of taking apart this logic, the film imagines a different kind of ‘us versus them’, a different exodus from a failing state.
